He grew up in west Texas (Crosbyton) and graduated Magna Cum Laude form Baylor University. After medical school (University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston) he completed orthopedic residency at the prestigious University of Washington and Harborview Medical Centers in Seattle, WA. He then completed speciality training in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. During fellowship, he had the ability to work with athletes of all levels including high school (team doctor for Galena Park North Shore High School), college (University of Houston athletics), and professional (Houston Rockets, Houston Astros, Houston Texans and Houston Dynamo). Although specialty trained in sports medicine, he also focuses on general orthopedics including acute or chronic knee, hip and shoulder problems, fracture care and pediatric injuries. While he has cared for athletes of the highest level, he still receives just as much satisfaction caring for the weekend warriors.
