Alexandra Turney's Expertise As a civil engineering student at the University of Texas at Austin, I have accumulated strong technical, time management, and communication skills. With these skills, I am prepared for my professional career that will start upon graduating in August. I have had two internships working primarily in the land development departments for Civil Engineering firms. Through these experiences, I worked on many projects where I learned how to design watershed boundaries, fix AutoCAD plans, submit plats and site plans, and much more. Through my education at UT, I designed a rain garden to help the drainage system of a local elementary school. I also redesigned a busy arterial road located close to the UT campus. Both of these school projects gave me lots of technical skills, but also taught me how to work successfully in groups. I am also proficient with various programs including AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and MicroStation. Along with being a full time student, I work and am involved in various organizations on campus. Being so involved has taught me how to manage my time efficiently. Being the committee head for a non-profit organization, Project Princess, also gave me strong communication and organizational skills that will be useful in my professional career. As the community donations head, I was in charge of reaching out to the Austin area for donations to help around 200 underprivileged girls be able to attend prom each year.
