Evryklis Kounalakis's Expertise My area of focus, both during my acedemic and professional life, has been software engineering and in particular Electronic Design Automation (EDA). My aim has been to balance between innovation and real-life engineering challenges so that ideas can be given life in an efficient manner. To facilitate this, I always target at improving myself through experience, training and mistakes. Academically, I have been engaged in research on physical design optimization algorithms, which has enabled me to acquire very solid theoretical knowledge of EDA algorithms with focus on VLSI placement algorithms and has also greatly enhanced my theoretical background on timing analysis with focus on statistical static timing analysis. I have also done extensive academic research on the nature of process variability and the past approaches which try to mitigate this phenomenon. Professionally, I have had experience with a small startup company which has given me the opportunity to see how very complex software can be developed from scratch and also the difficulties and pitfalls one can experience with helping developing a company of this scope. Now, I am working with Synopsys, Inc, on PrimeTime, the golden signoff solution for semiconductor companies. This engagement has provided me with the opportunity of working on real life problems on timing analysis and software engineering in the context of a real and successful product.
