Ila Pant’s Expertise I am a highly self-motivated individual and enjoy working relentlessly towards a constructive goal. I am also passionate about finding answers which led me to choose and pursue a career in the scientific arena. My PhD research focused on molecular etiopathogenesis of pre-cancerous lesion; Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSF). This work led to elucidation of the importance of epithelial-mesenchymal interaction mediated by the epithelial secretome (specifically Transforming Growth Factor beta) in the manifestation of OSF. It also shed light on the mechanism by which TGF-beta is up regulated in OSF. The work is of significance in developing therapeutic modalities for better management of OSF. My career aim is to make significant contribution towards mankind/society through science as well as to raise awareness about preventable disorders like OSF and OSCC which are primarily lifestyle diseases.
