Jason English’s Expertise I enjoy tackling new challenges and I have a strong drive to succeed in everything I do. This has positioned me to provide unique and valuable contributions and perspectives to my diverse list of job experiences. I am particularly interested in better understanding Earth's weather and climate, tackling difficult problems through research ideas, data science, and computer programming, and distilling down large overwhelming datasets to meaningful output through novel processing techniques and statistical analyses. I enjoy working with, learning from, and inspiring others to be the best that we can be, so that we provide a greater contribution to our shared goal than the sum of its parts. I have gained a wide array of scientific, leadership, creative problem-solving, and computer skills over the course of my career. With a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, a Ph.D. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, seven years at Kimberly-Clark Corporation, two years at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), one year at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP), and present experience at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), I've built a wide array of skill-sets. While at Kimberly-Clark Corporation, I had the opportunity to improve the designs of absorbency products, act as technical lead on one project, supervise two interns, write more than a dozen internal publications, and issue two patents. While at NCAR, LASP, and NOAA, I've gained expertise with Earth systems climate and weather modeling, observational datasets and computer science and programming skills. Some of the areas I have studied include North American weather forecasting/data assimilation, Arctic climate, volcanic eruptions, and stratospheric geoengineering. To date I have submitted 12 proposals (and PI of 6 grants), published approximately 25 peer-reviewed papers, and given dozens of oral and poster presentations at scientific conferences.
