Most of my work has required creative problem-solving skills because many times the resources were not there to carry out the process to the highest, most expensive level. Yet, it was still possible to do it correctly (complete documentation and proper rehousing to provide environmental protection). There is more than one way to get the job done right. I love to research, write, and share orally what I have learned with others. I am an academically trained historian with years of experience conducting research. My writing experience covers not only technical writing such as developing professional policy and procedural documents, but also crafting articles explaining the history of a structure, an object, or the life of an impactful person for newsletters or professional journals including American History, American Spirit, Twins Magazine, and History News. I have offered collection care workshops for colleagues and the public and have presented at numerous professional conferences. I recently embarked on becoming a Maryland Master Naturalist. My goal is to help others better understand our natural world and to encourage people to take actions to slow climate change.
