Kevin Mcelvain is a My name is Kevin McElvain and I'm a 2015 graduate from CRAS. I was born and raised here in Phoenix, graduated from Greenway High school, tried out community college at GCC and then found my passion at CRAS. I completed my internship and was hired by Tallcat Studios in Phoenix where I worked as a studio engineer and studio musician. After that I worked as an audiovisual technician for PSAV at a hotel/conference center in Scottsdale. My tenure with KTAR/AZ Sports began in 2016 as a Remote Technical Director where I set up and operated all facets of the remote broadcast events which included the Diamondback games, Suns postgame show, Coyote games, Cardinals pregame and preseason media event and all Arizona Sports related press conferences. I worked alongside personalities like Doug and Wolf, Bickley and Marotta, Burns and Gambo, Luke Lapinski and many professional athletes. Over the last year and a half I have been working exclusively with KTAR. Starting as a board operator where I mixed the content and voices for our live shows and newscast, I was able to learn and build upon my role. Currently, I'm the Assistant Producer and Board Operator for the Mike Broomhead radio show (Mon-Fri 8AM-12PM on 92.3 FM KTAR). I run a strict program down to the second, full of commercials, news broadcast, breaking news, legal ID's, Silver/Amber Alerts, all while mixing the Mike Broomhead show elements and voices, and editing clips of the show for re-airing and podcast purposes. As Assistant Producer, I fill in when the show producer is out. Arriving 2 hours before show time, I'm in charge of providing the news articles (mostly decided the previous night) to Mike Broomhead and coordinating a plan for the show. I develop a show sheet during our pre-production and confirm all our expected guests for the show with Mike and our newsroom. When the show starts, as a producer, I accommodate my on-air talent, edit any audio that will be played on the show, liaison to show guest in person or phone, run show social media accounts, listen to show for any mistakes or mispronunciations, script and voice the Did You Hear This segment all while operating through a fluid news cycle. This is only scratching the surface and everyday I learn how I can do more. I attribute my knowledge and my opportunity to work for such a well respected and prestigious radio station to my education from The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences. at Ccs Presentation Systems
