- Dr. Laurel Shaler is a licensed social worker, licensed professional counselor, licensed marriage and family therapist, and national certified counselor. She holds a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision as well as Masters Degrees in Social Work and Theology. She is a Professor in the Department of Counselor Education and Family Studies at Liberty University, where she previously served as a Department Chair and Program Director, and is currently a co-director of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Prior to joining Liberty, Dr. Shaler taught as part-time and adjunct faculty for several other institutions including Capella University, Clemson University, and the University of South Carolina. She previously worked as a social worker for the Department of Veterans Affairs where she provided mental health services, specializing in PTSD and anger management. Dr. Shaler is a member of numerous professional organizations, and speaks and writes on numerous professional topics.
