- Hello, nice to see you here. I'm Maiko, a Full Stack Web Developer, I work primarily with PHP and Javascript (No, not Java, Javascript. I'm sorry for those who already know the difference, but for some reason, I do get a reasonable amount of calls to work for Java, and I don't know why? I do not have professional any experience in it.) Having learned programming starting with C, C++, and then even a little of Java, meaning, I started programming with low-level languages, so I understand well the concept of "efficient code", which is something that I carry with me since then. Then I got into Web development, with PHP on the back-end, and Javascript on the front-end (During the old jQuery wars, I was an avid fighter AGAINST it's influence. All hail VanillaJS!). Eventually NodeJS would happen, and I would also come to work with it, mainly after the introduction of Typescript, which made Javascript so much better to work with. Being a problem solver, I try to understand the root of the problem rather than just doing only what I'm told, I understand nuances and linguistics enough to understand that sometimes a bit of "translation" is needed when talking with the other side. Although a bit off-topic, regarding the topic of "translation", I do, as a hobby, some voluntary work on "fan-translations" (Japanese to English), my English is proficient enough to articulate what I need to convey (I may not be a native speaker, but I'm fluent). As I already said, efficiency is something important for me, I like to avoid wasting resources, I'm open to criticizing and being criticized, often offering my own suggestions and ideas, and discuss them. I'm easily motivated on the prospect of improvements. I'm always open to learn and adopt new technologies, although to varied degrees of experience, I have some knowledge in 3D, image, sound and video manipulation (editing). I'm also not a fan of "magic", tools that "just work", as I like to have a deep understanding of everything that I'm working with, hence I can also deal with server setups, networking and the likes. I'm a stereotypical geek, technology are both my hobby and work, and I'm a fan of open-source and self-hosting, which are often safer and more private solutions. I may look like a very logical and serious person, but I can also be casual in more informal environments.
