Product manager for operational data platform capability that replicates and publishes PLM, ERP, and MES data with low latency and measured quality.
- Responsible for defining, communicating, and maintaining data delivery roadmap (including quarterly commitments) aligned to company goals, technology initiatives, and developer customer application needs.
- External-facing leader who engages with data customers to document query and schema requirements as well as develops data pipeline process with data produces (both COTS systems and Blue Origin-custom applications).
- Gets hands dirty to run scrums, maintain backlog, and test features to keep a high-performing team on track.
- Product owner for quality management system document portal, high performance compute cluster management solution, and several PLM integration micro services. Solutions are aligned to customer needs through use of interviews, user groups, workflow diagrams, and prototypes.
- Developed opportunity-solution tree of desired business and product outcomes for the engineering change management process. Solutions were assessed and prioritized before being mapped to identify key assumptions, which were tested using surveys, historical data, and prototypes.
- Identified persistent PLM integration challenges and developed read replica solution concept, led developers to build MVP from AWS components, defined service API requirements, and influenced enterprise data platform concept to include read replica as a component.
- Established and influenced a vision for Windchill (PLM) by facilitating a company-wide steering committee, codifying and hosting intake and backlog review sessions, and scoping a series of step-by-step projects to reach goals for application capability, security, and efficiency (along with moonshot goals to challenge the status quo).
- Implemented company hardware maturity management process in PLM by studying business process to define updates to configuration management workflows, collaborating with developers to design in-house ERP integration and legacy data conversion, leading quality assurance, and publishing user documentation and training.
- Led the design, development, and deployment of a browsable and filterable standard fasteners library that was benchmarked against industry-leading fastener selection UX.
- Matured operational processes (with a focus on quality and repeatability) by authoring feature guides and test scripts for major releases. Implemented Jira Service Desk configuration changes that improved metrics.
Application Support
- Provided training and troubleshooting of Siemens NX8.5/NX10/NX12 (CAD), Teamcenter 10/11 (PLM), and ANSYS Simulation tools in Apple Hardware Engineering Product Design (PD) organization during time of rapid growth.
- Led User Acceptance Testing for upgrade to Siemens NX12. Responsible for identifying acceptance criteria, organizing kickoff meetings and test sessions, gathering and triaging feedback, and communicating bug fix updates. This program identified 33 bugs that were fixed before the go-live, 15 that were fixed after the upgrade, and added 11 enhancement requests to the backlog, in addition to preserving all critical previous version functionality.
- Responsible for a various administrative functions in the NX10 and NX12 CAD and Teamcenter PLM environments including seed part creation, customer defaults management, role file creation and customization, and drawing note template reuse.
Application Design
- Designed an updated Drafting Inspection Symbol tool and all-new Standard Drawing Notes workflows. Followed user-centered design principles to identify existing pain points, created mockups of new interaction methods, gathered user feedback on early prototypes and final version, and ensured a smooth transition with clear documentation, demos, and training.
Workflow Study
- Studied simulation workflows and created process diagrams for standalone analyst workflows and hybrid designer/analyst workflows. Pain points and insights have been used to implement CAD to CAE linking tools, develop requirements for material management database, and redesign storage architecture to improve transfer speeds.
- Managed training for mechanical and electrical simulation software at Apple. Continuous improvement efforts led to increased classroom training attendance, implementation of a self-guided training offering, and creation of tutorials for common workflows: all growing the ROI of Apple’s software purchases.
Avibank, a PCC company, is a leading designer and producer of multi-component fasteners, aircraft engine components, and surface and structural latches. In my intern role, I spent my time on a variety of tasks including:
- New product CAD modeling and subcomponent specification. For existing products, I redesigned and updated drawings, specifications, and manufacturing processes.
- Immersion within design engineering, project management, and qualification/testing roles for A320NEO and B737MAX engine cowling and thrust reverser latch projects.
While working for Faber, a PCC company, which is a Aerospace Fluid Fittings manufacturer with over 10 million dollars in annual sales, I:
- Developed VBA-based applications to record and monitor employee productivity, provide timely production metrics to Operations department, and automate daily data reporting within the Engineering Department.
- Researched and developed a cutting tool insert usage tracking and forecasting system by coordinating usage of existing facility infrastructure.
Interpreted and verified technical drawings.
Set up and monitored CNC Lathes, Mills, and EDM Machines.
Inspected completed parts, readied parts for shipping.
Ensured safety and quality of Mountain Biking program.
Maintained inventory of 50 bicycles and associated parts and tools.
Diagnosed and repaired major mechanical failures.
Taught routine bike maintenance to new staff.
My 2007-2009 summers were spent working in the Bike Shop developing skills as a Bike Shop Assistant.
