Miguel Jose Luna’s Expertise I entered into the sales business field since 1987, after five years of culinary work, for Denny's restaurant and Marriott In-Fly services as Executive Chef assistant. That year, 1987, I decided to change my trade to the sales field. Since then I've worked for important nationwide companies such as Zephyrhills Water, selling a variety of bottled water sizes successfully as one of the best salesperson in the region; receiving awards for twelve consecutive years for sales and safety. Then in 1999 was time to change. So I got into the Insurance field, after obtaining my Insurance Licenses. I hold 215 & 220 ( All lines, Property and Casualty) I continued doing business successfully as well. I've worked for Avmed for 3 years and UnitedhealthCare for over 21 years. I’m continuing enhancing my strengths, experience and abilities to improve my people skills. For example, for the last six years, I have had the opportunity to work with a great Team in United HealthCare Community Plan called the Medicaid Growth Team led by my friend Brandon Cole. I have been able to create and develop a method or system to educate, inform and incentivize medium and large key Health Care providers to improve quality, utilization and growth in Miami-Dade. The strategy developed is called Provider Growth and Opportunity Meeting; it was created and form with the help of internal departments colleagues who needed to reach out to providers, but did not have the direct engagement and relationship that I have established and developed during over 16 years -back then. Thus, we formed the PGOM integrated by colleagues from Finance, Health Services, Pharmacy, Quality and me. The results have been outstanding demonstrated by the response and feedback from those large/medium key providers; improving on utilization, quality, member retention and smart membership growth. Indeed, having a clear idea, aiming to help providers to achieve their goal of delivering the best health care possible to our members by providing the support they need has been a successful story.
