- A professional with 8+ years of work experience across both, buy-side and sell-side equity research. Currently, a sell-side research analyst tracking the NBFC sector at CLSA India. Started my financial markets career on the buy-side at Goldman Sachs covering Consumer Staples & Insurance sectors. Post Graduate Diploma in Management at IIM Indore and also cleared all three CFA exams in the first attempt. I think what makes me a good sell-side analyst are the following - (a) I don't try to be the fastest analyst on the street or the one who has all the news - instead I try to analyse differently with the same information that is available to the whole street, (b) I am flexible - I don't fall in love with any stock neither do I perpetually dislike any stock - as a result, I try to see things more subjectively and (c) I call up my clients only when I have something valuable to add - hence, I do not waste their time with frequent calls, nor do I end up pressurizing myself to unnecessarily search for some info/analysis to tell the client. Do all of my stock calls go right? Far from that. But I rarely give a recommendation without understanding/analyzing a stock properly. I'd rather go wrong on a well-researched stock than go right on a poorly-researched one.
