-Tourism and Development and Investment Company (TDIC), master developer of major tourism, cultural and residential destinations in Abu Dhabi, has created a joint venture partnership with L Real Estate (LRE), a global real estate development and investment fund sponsored by LVMH, an entity specializing in the creation of luxury shopping destinations. The partnership was formed to create and execute the Project commonly referred to as “The District”, a world-class retail destination with indoor and outdoor shopping and dining venues situated in the heart of what is destined to become the GCC’s premier destination – Saadiyat Island’s Cultural District.
-Strategically positioned among three world-class museums – Zayed National Museum, Louvre Abu Dhabi and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi – this development, which sits on a land plot of 17 hectares, will be one of the largest retail complexes in the emirate and the first-of-it’s-kind in the Arabian Gulf region to feature high-street outdoor fashion stores.
-The District, which is scheduled for completion in early 2018, is comprised of a 3 level retail component, a 1 level below grade parking component, two 9 level parking decks, a pair of 6 level five star hotels, and eight 8 level residential blocks. The subgrade parking level combined with the two parking decks will provide the necessary parking for not only the retail center, hotels and residences, but also the required parking for all three museums. The Retail Centre component of -The District is distributed over 278,700 square meters of leasable space with 750 units allocated for luxury and fashion brands, all levels of dining outlets, high end department and anchor stores, home furnishing chains, art galleries, family entertainment venues and various other specialty stores and services.
