•Develop, organize, and present public outreach activities and programs related to crime prevention and emergency preparedness; serve as a liaison among the community, City departments, and the Sheriff’s Department.
•Make recommendations regarding crime prevention through environmental design to residents, apartment managers/owners, and businesses.
•Oversee and implement the Neighborhood/Apartment Watch programs to educate citizens about crime awareness, prevention, safety and reporting issues; prepare and make in-person presentation to citizens, neighborhood groups and others on such issues as personal safety, child abuse, burglary, drug abuse, juvenile delinquency, and dispute resolution.
•Provide technical assistance related to emergency preparedness/management preparation and implementation activities, including coordination of required staff training.
•Develop, prepare, or make available a variety of informational materials, such as brochures, handouts, newsletter articles, and audio-visual presentations related to crime prevention awareness; prepare text for the City’s website related to crime prevention information.
•Identify potential crime problems and initiate actions to implement preventive measures; research new topics and legislation related to crime prevention and emergency preparedness.
Responsible for enforcing actions and co-adapting policy with the NCOIC, the 88th Security Forces Squadron Bike Patrol section implements over 30+ mountain bikes as well as associated maintenance items. The bike patrol section also cordinates with several local agencies to raise awareness of bicycle safety.
