Sheila Mcgrory-klyza's Expertise
  • I fell in love with the written word—its beauty and its power—as a child and have devoted my professional life to this vital, concrete abstraction in some way or another. My writing experience is broad and deep and encompasses 20+ years with national and international organizations and publications. I specialize in interviewing people using a conversational style that reveals their stories. Then I shape these stories into a narrative that vividly conveys an organization’s mission and values through the lens of the people and communities it serves. I also write articles weaving together food, culture, and travel on my blog The Vermont Epicure, as well as articles on myriad food topics for national and regional magazines. The only work as satisfying to me as writing is helping other people—students, colleagues, or clients—articulate their ideas. I coach others as they strive to compose with grace and clarity, so the words on the page best communicate what they want to say. In addition, I edit the work of others, revising and polishing an article, report, or book, rendering it more lucid, essential, and inspiring. I also have experience successfully managing large publication and translation projects. My working style is collaborative, creative, open-minded, and strategic. I’m digitally adept, accurate with facts, and a compassionate world citizen. Living in France at several different times, and experiencing other global travel, has shaped my world view and sparked a lifelong interest in cross-cultural communication and understanding. Specialties include: researching, interviewing, writing, storytelling, project management, editing, social media, teaching, and coaching.
