  I have had a leadership role in working with the homeless and addicted since 1970. This has been a passion and calling for both my husband and me all of these years. Helping one who has been homeless and addicted for decades to become a contributing member of society is a long and difficult process -- but not impossible! The Bible and the Big Book, which includes the 12 Steps are powerful tools to bring about emotional, mental, physical and most importantly, spiritual healing. Step 3 is crucial, as the individual daily turns their life and will over in complete surrender to God! Providing a safe, healing environment where people can be authentic, real and honest are key components in this process. After my leadership role in Peniel Missions for 28 years and 15 years as City Director at Cityteam San Francisco, I recently retired from my position as City Director. My husband and I recently started RESTORE....Hope, Dignity, Life -- a new non profit for the transformation of the addicted poor in Diablo Valley of Contra Costa County. There are over 6,000 homeless men and women "right in our own backyard" where we reside, and very little Bible-based long term residential recovery for them. God has wonderfully opened the way and we recently opened our first residential discipleship recovery home for men. SOMA Church of Danville worked together and provided all the furniture and stocked the cupboards with dishes and all the amenities and turned it over to us "move in ready." Within 48 hours, the first program residents moved in. We are so grateful for the vision and partnership of SOMA Church! Some needs that we still have are for sports equipment like basketball/baseball, warm jackets and denim and dress slacks/sweatshirts in all sizes for the winter season.
