  • An experienced Instrument and controls Technician with 20+ years experience in an industrial setting as either a field service engineer or an end user/maintainer, installing, commissioning, inspecting and maintaining various types of industrial mechanical and electrical controls equipment primarily for drilling and marine systems. Experience repairing, modifying, calibrating and repairing NOV VFD draw works, Ross Hill SCR’s 10-15KVA UPS systems and AC motors and control circuits. Experienced installing, modifying, calibrating and troubleshooting various drilling instrumentation packages consisting of GE Fanuc PLC equipment, Rockwell AAdvance PLC equipment and Allen-Bradley PLC equipment. Experience includes Installing PLC systems, monitoring ladder logic for faults and troubleshooting circuit failures. Components familiar with include flow paddles using 0-300mv analog devices. 4-20mA ultrasonic sensors used for fluid level monitoring, mechanical and magnetic limit switches and high speed counters. Experience installing, inspecting and maintaining marine electronic equipment consisting of S and X band radars, GMDSS radio equipment, fiber optic and inertial gyros used in navigation, various HF, MF and VHF antennas, Fugro and Simrad DGNSS receivers and antennas. Experienced installing, modifying, calibrating and repairing multiplex blow out preventer control systems (GE/Hydril, Oceaneering, Cameron and NOV 4th, 5th and 6th generation). Experience installing and maintaining fire detection systems and telephone PBX systems. Familiar with ABS, DNV, ISM and USCG regulations as well as Federal Codes of Regulation (FCR’s). Experienced in using proper grounding techniques and ESD safety. Experienced supervising and using planned maintenance systems, creating departmental budgets, ordering supplies and materials. Extensive experience using schematics, wiring diagrams and P&ID in troubleshooting situations and installation verification.
