Whitney Wallace’s Expertise Whitney Wallace graduated in 2021 with her Masters in Agricultural and Extension Education & Evaluation from LSU. Prior to her current role, she served as the State Program Director for both the Urban Community Forestry (U&CF) and the Information and Education (I&E) program for the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry. Whitney joined the LSU AgCenter in March 2015 as a 100% Agricultural and Natural Resources (ANR) Extension Agent in Tangipahoa Parish. During this appointment, she served in two district roles—ANR agent for Tangipahoa Parish and the Southeast region’s area forestry and wildlife agent. She is currently still serving as an area forestry and wildlife agent for the Southeast area. Since March of 2018, those duties have transitioned over to timber production, wildlife, and urban forestry on a regional level. I assist landowners, agents, and their clients in the southeast region and in surrounding regions when needed.” She goes on to say, “My job varies from one day to the next and I think that is what I love most about it. As a little girl, my life involved agriculture, specifically forestry. I grew up attending professional forestry association meetings with my father. I would listen intently to forestry professionals share information and knowledge of the forest industry. In middle school, my experiences with 4-H helped shape my agricultural interest. As I moved into high school, 4-H Short Course helped me refine my forestry skills and introduced me to the world of Extension. Those experiences led me to choose an agricultural degree at LSU in Forest Management where I was taught by extension and research professors that were passionate to share their knowledge. Little did I know that my experiences with extension professionals early in my life would impact my job direction as I am now the Southeast Region Extension Forester for LSU AgCenter, as well as the Parish Chair. I am dedicated to the overall mission of the LSU AgCenter, and I view my job as an opportunity to enhance the lives of Louisiana citizens through my agriculture and forestry educational-based programming. I am proud to be part of Louisiana’s agricultural industry and I am committed to serving that industry and residents of Southeastern Louisiana as well as across the state in the years ahead.
