The UI speaks JSON, that's our REST API standard, so using it all the way down the stack just makes sense. We don't speak English, formulate sentences in French, and remember everything in German, so why would we communicate in JSON, convert it to Java data types, then instantiate it as abstract Object instances for business logic, finally storing it in SQL (yet another abstraction)? I like simplicity, functional programming (where it makes sense), micro-services, and continuous delivery. I've been around the block and worn a lot of hats. For my own startup, I acted as CTO, whatever that means when you own the company, right? I'm a bit of an entrepreneur--but who isn't in this industry? I'm a web developer at my core and I enjoy building tools for developers and teaching/mentoring. Whether leading development teams, architecting and maintaining Linux web servers, running performance and security audits, writing scalable, efficient code, developing efficient UI or full system architecture, or teaching web development and machine learning classes, I tend to adapt to whatever needs doing.
