  When asked to describe my characteristics or qualities in a professional setting, the phrase “can wear many different hats” always comes to mind; not only because I enjoy the prospect of tackling challenging new tasks but because I’m bald and have always kept a collection of “many different hats.” The ability to adapt is the ability to survive and overcome. That has been my professional approach since becoming a part of the cannabis industry several years ago. I have worked in a plethora of different capacities for companies at many different stages of their life cycle within that cannabis industry. The one thing that has remained constant is my enthusiasm for both cannabis and helping people. When I would hire new employees I would say the same thing to each of them, “Welcome to the cannabis industry; be prepared to change expectations.” After several years in the cannabis industry I have seen a lot of change and that is what keeps me excited! As much as I love to learn, I equally love to teach. During my time with Bloom Medicinals I gained valuable experience about the cannabis industry, different states’ programs, and perspective of the cannabis workforce. I was responsible for coordinating the opening of several dispensaries, hiring employees, learning multi-state specific regulations, developing and implementing operation strategies, training employees, managing stores and developing staff. What I enjoyed the most was contributing to the creation of their infrastructure. My time with Dutchie as an Implementation Strategist was eye opening to the industry, but in a totally new way. I was helping several new stores/companies understand how to utilize a point-of-sale that would improve workflow and increase productivity. I was elated to be able to share my knowledge on opening stores and the launch process, as many of the new operators did not come from the cannabis world and leaned heavily on our guidance. I found it very rewarding to be able to offer that type of assistance while implementing one of the industry’s leading point of sale software. I love teaching because I feel that I learn the most when I'm working and collaborating with others. Helping others reach their full potential is my driving force in finding the right career path.
