  Hello! My name is Alessandro Mereghetti and I've got my Master's Degree in Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology at Milan's "Università degli Studi". I have been in love with the natural world since I was a child, and growing up I decided to dedicate my life to its study and protection. My main research interest regards the role of interspecific interactions in shaping plant communities, with a focus on the importance of plant-megaherbibores interactions for biodiversity at local and landscape level. During my years at the University of Milan I've honed my knowledge in the various fields of ecology and conservation biology, specializing myself in vegetation dynamics and plant ecology. During my thesis period at the Alpine Botanic Garden "Rezia" I had occasion to improve my knowledge of Alpine flora and ecological processes, as well as my skills with GIS softwares (ArcGIS, GRASS GIS, QGIS) and European Environmental Law (in particular the Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC). After my graduation, I attended courses to improve my skills in R statistics and continued my relationship with the University of Milan as a scientific consultant, helping the group of Geobotany working with GIS and floristic data. I love to exchange ideas and come in contact with new perspectives: for this reason I attended various meetings and conferences regarding biodiversity and conservation. Thanks to this, I discovered the fascinating world of ecological restoration and rewilding: I'm confident that this approach will prove invaluable in recovering our planet from our current biodiversity crisis, so I'm looking forward for opportunities in this field. In the meantime, as I believe that to have an impact on the future you have to work with the younger generations, I'm working as a guide and ecological educator at Associazione Didattica Museale and Progetto Salvaraja.
