  Bio: At the University of Georgia I earned a B.S. in Environmental Health Science with the goal of helping to improve the environment and public health. During college, I completed an internship at CIBA Vision Corp. conducting lab audits for the Health, Safety, and Environment Department. After graduation, I obtained an entry-level job at Analytical Services, Inc (ASI), an environmental testing laboratory. My time at ASI allowed me to acquire new skills as I worked increasingly demanding positions in the company. I maintained high-quality work in a fast-paced and high volume environment while also helping to improve testing procedures. In mid-2015 I decided to take what I had learned and seek out a position in the exciting field of biotechnology. I started a temp position at Canon U.S. Life Sciences working as a Quality Control Associate Specialist. I proved myself as a fast learner with a willingness to take on multiple responsibilities, and in November 2015 I was hired by Canon BioMedical as a full-time employee. As a QC Specialist, I have enjoyed working at a company in the midst of developing new products and taking on the challenges involved with bringing those products to market. I discovered that I enjoy applying critical thinking skills to solve problems and determine root causes. My refusal to give up and determination to find solutions has led to multiple product and process improvements. I plan on continuing to acquire new skills and knowledge in the biotechnology business and I am currently finishing up a Master’s in Biotechnology with a focus on Biotechnology Management at the University of Maryland, University College so that I can take on more responsibility and bring advanced knowledge to my job.
