Alexandra Stevenson’s Expertise After studying at Edinburgh University, Alexandra was selected for the Associated Studios Opera Programme, which she completed with the generous support of the Richard Carne Trust. Whilst studying on this course, she took part in masterclasses with Janice Chapman and Jonathan Hinden. Alexandra has been coached by Catherine Bott, Donald Maxwell, the late John Shirley-Quirk and Sophie Daneman. Having previously studied with Ashley Stafford, she is currently studying with Andrew Watts. Solo performances include the works of Bach (Cantata 51); Haydn ('Nelson Mass'); Orff ('Carmina Burana'); Mozart ('Mass in C Minor'); Poulenc ('Gloria'); Todd ('Mass in Blue') and Patrick Hawes ('Te Deum', conducted by the composer at the UK premiere). As a recitalist, Alexandra has performed at the Portsmouth Festivities, the Chelsea Schubert Festival, the National Gallery in London and the Usher Hall in Edinburgh. She has also appeared twice as a soloist with the Band and Orchestra of HM Royal Marines. Her recent operatic roles in venues such as the King's Head Theatre, Islington, include the roles of Belinda, 'Dido & Aeneas'; Plaintiff, 'Trial by Jury'; Dew Fairy, 'Hansel and Gretel'; Le Feu, 'L'enfant et les sortileges' and Monica, 'The Medium'. In 2014, Alexandra performed the role of Princess Sabia at the world premiere of Malcolm Archer's work, 'St. George & The Dragon'. As an ensemble singer, Alexandra deputises regularly with the choir of St. Bride’s Church, Fleet Street and features on their recent CD 'The Spirit of Christmas'. Alexandra is also a lover of jazz, and has performed at the Pigalle Club, Piccadilly and the Kensington Roof Gardens. She is delighted to work for the charity 'Lost Chord', presenting recitals to dementia patients in care homes across the UK with pianist, Nicki Rose. Alexandra is also Director of Girl Choristers at Holy Trinity Church in Guildford and teaches singing at Charterhouse. Alexandra is represented by Chameleon Arts Management.
