While my degree focused on counseling and clinical training, across my education and professional career I've picked up skills in a wide range of areas: strategic planning, assessment development, research (qualitative and quantitative) and data analysis (SPSS), administration, and inter-departmental collaboration. Basically: eclectic is the exact word to describe my experience! I love nerdy things: video games, comics, anime, and many others. I regularly engage in art as well: watercolor, acrylic, gouache, drawing, jewelry, etc. I love to combine these with my other interests, including education and mental health. I often use media examples in my teaching to help bring lessons home and provide another way to have a conversation. I have also been a staff writer for Comicosity, a site devoted to discussing comics and created and run by a diverse group of creators across race, gender, ability, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, and other identities.
