Basil Paulose’s Expertise “One of the criticisms I’ve faced over the years is that I’m not aggressive enough or assertive enough, or somehow, because I’m empathetic, it means I’m weak. I totally rebel against that. I refuse to believe that you cannot be both compassionate and strong.” - Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister of New Zealand. I believe Nurses are significant change agents in the healthcare system and have the power to build healthier communities through greater involvement in health education, cultural sensitivity, and participation in leadership roles. Nursing is also a profession dedicated to delivering holistic care, not just to individuals but also to whole populations. Having a diverse workforce with people from different racial, educational, social backgrounds and a diverse age range opens a wealth of possibilities and helps to encourage creativity and foster innovation. I am a hardworking, fast learning and innovative professional who is looking for a fulltime employment opportunity within WA Country Health Service to utilise the current skills already gained and to also enhance further into new skill sets. I have been working within the Healthcare industry for over 14 years now, working in the role of a Registered nurse, Nurse Educator, Primary Health Manager, Regional Coordinator of Nursing & Midwifery, Operations Manager, Regional Director of Nursing & Midwifery and the Regional Clinical Risk Management Coordinator. My intrinsic driver is to hear and advocate for the voice of the vulnerable. This carries me through all components of my life both professionally and outside the work arena. It underpins how I manage and lead teams that influence and shape the organization and workforce. It lays the platform for cultural change and staff engagement resulting in positive patient outcomes. When I speak of the vulnerable this has multiple arms for me: patient’s and carer’s that put their lives in our hands when in our care in hospital, vulnerable populations and cohorts of the community, and staff who feel disempowered or vulnerable to speak up. I strive to be the best at what I do and apply myself to any situation or position that I am given. I interact with the greatest degree of professionalism and personal integrity on a daily basis.
