  My real interest in computer engineering sparked when I took my first programming class in high school. It was a small college class and we worked in teams to tackle problems. I remember solving my first problem on the computer. It was as simple as learning how to display a message on the screen, but there was something special to me about being able to solve a problem and making it run using a bunch of words put together. In my programming class, we worked on many different projects involving working with Java, making apps, and even made games to submit for the competition. We learned many different things while covering the basics of an object-oriented language to help build our programming skills. As we learned more about programming the problems became more challenging making my love for programming grow even more. Joining clubs has also played a key role in helping me find the right major. I went into college with some uncertainty between two different majors: actuarial science and computer engineering. I knew I had to figure out quickly otherwise I would fall behind on my major requirements. I joined two clubs to help me decide and after some time in those clubs, I realized I had a passion for engineering.
