Blake Stephens’s Expertise Who says "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"? Certainly not me. I'm always looking for ways to improve anything I can touch and the tools I work with. I take great pride in the quality of my work and my attention to detail on all things technical and visual. I work well in groups, but also alone. I'm not afraid of design-by-committee or taking the reigns and developing my own vision. With two decades of web and graphic design experience, I know what works and what doesn't; not just aesthetically, but in which web browsers and why. I have extensive practical experience developing for browsers running on embedded hardware. Having worked both as a computer repair technician and as the head of the for-print graphic design group, I understand the relationships and overlap between those roles and software development, which puts me in a better position to appreciate users' needs and balancing idealized visual design concepts with good software development practices. I love solving problems and fixing things, but I truly thrive in an environment where I am asked to overhaul a system or write a new framework from scratch. My success in this is due to my ability to anticipate needs, thinking multiple steps ahead, and my desire to push the development boundaries. I am a dedicated always-on kind of employee who, even in downtime, will find interesting useful tasks to do, whether that's tweaking and optimizing a UI or designing a T-shirt for the company picnic. Specialties: Creating intuitive user-interfaces, web optimization for embedded devices, clean efficient versatile code, back-end framework development, following directions, not following directions (being creative), detail-oriented, a willingness to make existing things better, and bringing happiness and cooperation to the workplace (bringing snacks, being first to arrive and last to leave from team-building events, etc). I love what I do and I love sharing it with others.
