Unbeknownst to each other, we both moved to Seattle in the late 1970's and continued the friendship until Hamza's departure for a stint in Japan. Following his return to the US in the late 1990's, the friendship was again rekindled until Hamza's death in May of 2006. Hamza's musical career included a performances with the Grateful Dead, the Kronos String Quartet, Jazz Sax player, Charles LLoyd, (among other notables) and academic positions at Ohio University, University of Washington, a summer program at Harvard and several other institutions. LIFE IN SEATTLE: During my life in the Pacific Northwest I've had the pleasure and privilege of making music for four decades with Richard Stockton whom I first met as he wrapped up a West Coast tour with his trio backing noted Blues musician, Paul Butterfield. Richard was an accomplished guitarist, singer, composer, recording engineer, technologist, and a great friend. I spent five years playing electric bass performing Blues, BeBop and Bossa material with the gifted Seattle multi-instrumentalist and recording engineer, Bob Antolin. For a separate stretch of eight years, I played electric bass in a trio setting supporting Jazz guitarist, Steve Nowak and Jazz mandolin player, Geoff Wilke. Greater Realty
