Some of my earliest memories are of sitting in front of the TV and seeing Steve Irwin on some far off beach teaching me about an animal I did not even think could exist. This passion followed me through middle school and high school as I tried soaking up as much knowledge on the environment and how we interacted with it, as I could. This led me to a summer camp offered by Chatham University called the Sustainability Leadership Academy. Going to this academy helped me understand the intersectionality of climate change and how humans are a driving factor in causing it. Attending this camp would ultimately lead me to major in sustainability with a focus in business at Chatham University. At Chatham, my education was immediately elevated to a level I did not think was possible for myself. My professors provided me with ample amounts of new information such as how providing shade in the inner city can make a space more welcoming and walkable. I take most the most joy in learning how I can apply sustainability to the urban fabric. From learning how it can be used to help reduce inequality to setting up a simple community garden, sustainability is a truly multi-faceted field.
