Brian Roach’s Expertise I've worked in IT/ telecommunications Help desk environments now since 1999. I started on a help desk for BT Easyreach dealing with customer support for their pagers. My role there was to help people navigate through the pager and troubleshoot problems with the device. I then moved into broadband support with Telewest/ Virgin media. I excelled in this area becoming one of only a few to gain the accredited "Broadband License" and becoming one of the first to be trained in triple play (TV/ Phone and Broadband) support in the business. I then moved onto various roles within Carphone warehouse/ Talktalk where I have moved from 2nd line broadband consumer support over into the Service management centre in Talktalk technology. Within the service management centre I have moved from Jeopardy management dealing with the "End of the line" faults and director level escalations into B2B assurance. The role of the B2B assurance team has helped me broaden my knowledge in the Ethernet and business products we provide. I have learned a lot in Ethernet First Mile and also working to shorter business SLA's. I'm in the company award scheme every month nominated by my peers for going above and beyond my normal role. In late 2015 I moved into team management where I helped coach and upskill our people which at the time was circa 60 staff. I was also heavily involved with process improvements across our area. I was also dealing with complaints from our partners dealing with their NOC's and design engineers to help them onboard their network and adapt ours to their needs. My day to day activity was to queue and resource manage the department with a direct headcount of 6 engineers. In my current role as a integrated operations centre engineer I monitor various systems like IBM netcool, Splunk, Huawei imanager and various transmission systems. This helps me in my role to monitor access, transmission and core layers of the network and react to problems that have come to light. I also case manage these incidents setting their priority and urgency also working to there completion using BMC Helix where I communicate to the wider business and our partners. I have a passion new challenges and I'm also open to new opportunities Specialities: Problem solving, Troubleshooting, Customer service, People skills, Establishing good communication bridges and a thirst to resolve problems for any customer. However I have no fear stepping into the unknown. I'm also looking at furthering my understanding of the wider network.
