C Michael’s Expertise With over 50 films, dozens of commercials, game cinematics and award winning location-based VR experiences, I've honed my skills focusing on fine details of character development and the human condition in animation. With a strong balance in artist and technical backgrounds, I am well versed in pipeline development, mentoring and supervising large or small projects, and inspiring team members to get the most out of their abilities. With a film degree background, and an animation post degree, I'm uniquely qualified to oversee animation productions, direct mocap sessions, and oversee rig development and complex technical and aesthetic animation. Though I don't have a computer science degree, I am well versed in python, C#, C++, mel and javascript scripting languages for a large variety of applications. In all of this, I believe my biggest asset is adaptability. I am able to either come on early to a project, identify the needs of the pipeline/team, understand clients are constantly changing their committee minds, realize I'm an asset for a creative director, and that I'm not making my own movie, but part of a support structure. When required, I can step into the role of directing animation, and focusing on subtle acting and cinematic choices. I feel I'm well versed to getting to the root of a problem, and can articulate issues clearly and effectively. Being a team player, I'm interested in what's best for a production focusing on ever increasing production demands, and global pipelines. I am not a snowflake. Extensive experience in Previz work for films like Star Trek Into Darkness, Star Wars: The force Awakens. Extensive knowledge in camera work. I maintain US, Canadian and Swiss citizenships, allowing me to work anywhere in North America and Europe.Specializing in: Maya, Unity, and Unreal, a variety of comp software like Nuke, a strong understanding of Rendering software, scripting languages, editing experience and camera/motion control systems.
