My work for the Special School District included experience with students at all grade levels (ages 5 through 20), including mild-to-moderate and severely disabled individuals, in a variety of settings, including: special classrooms, resource rooms, a special education elementary school, a special education high school, and inclusion settings in regular classrooms. For Kelly Educational Staffing I taught in two school districts, Normandy, a district serving a largely minority population (roughly 97 percent African-American), and Parkway, one of the largest districts in St. Louis County. My work in the Hazelwood School District was also mainly in schools with large minority enrollments. Overall, my experiences during this time were challenging, interesting, and very beneficial to me in terms of expanding my teaching abilities and my understanding of the current culture and challenges of public schools and classrooms.
