These include a NSW Tall Poppy Award (2023), Finalist in the Health Ministers Nursing Trailblazer Awards (2023), Stroke Foundation Future Leader Award (2015), the Top downloaded paper of the European Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing (2017), and the Western Sydney University Vice Chancellor’s Award for Excellence as an Early Career Researcher – Highly Commended (2019). In 2020, Dr Ferguson was elected as a Fellow of the Australian College of Nursing, a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and a Fellow of the Cardiovascular Society of Australia & New Zealand in recognition to his commitment to cardiovascular nursing research.
