Chris Fedyschyn’s Expertise Christopher P. Fedyschyn is a retired Navy Captain with over 28 years of commissioned service and is a 1981 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Following his designation as a naval aviator, he completed FA-18 Hornet training and served in several Hornet squadrons. During one tour, he was stationed in China Lake, CA, as a project pilot where he helped develop the Night Attack Hornet. He attended Air Command and Staff College in Maxwell AFB, Montgomery, AL, and then worked at the Naval Doctrine Command, Norfolk, VA where he developed doctrine for Joint and Naval Strike Warfare. In 1998, he reported to Training Squadron (VT) 22 at Naval Air Station, Kingsville, TX as the Executive and then Commanding Officer. While serving as Commanding Officer, his squadron received the Goldwaithe Award, the Ellyson Award and the Chief of Naval Aviation award for Training Excellence. After his Commanding Officer tour, he reported to the USS KITTY HAWK (CV 63) in Yokosuka, Japan as the Air Boss. During this tour, he was a key leader in the transformation of the Kitty Hawk into an Afloat Forward Staging Base (AFSB), to enable Kitty Hawk to conduct combined Rotary and Fixed Wing combat operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He reported to Carrier Strike Group Twelve in 2004 as the Chief of Staff and acted as the Strike Group Commander, taking the Group to sea several times, in the Strike Group Commanders absence. His last tour in the Navy was in Operational Test and Evaluation Force, Norfolk, VA serving as the Director of Air Division. Chris Fedyschyn retired from active duty on 1 February, 2010. He worked for the Boeing Aircraft Company as the FA-18 representative to Naval Air Systems Command, NAS Patuxent River, MD for seven years before becoming a business development manager at BAE Systems.
