During this tour, he was a key leader in the transformation of the Kitty Hawk into an Afloat Forward Staging Base (AFSB), to enable Kitty Hawk to conduct combined Rotary and Fixed Wing combat operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He reported to Carrier Strike Group Twelve in 2004 as the Chief of Staff and acted as the Strike Group Commander, taking the Group to sea several times, in the Strike Group Commanders absence. His last tour in the Navy was in Operational Test and Evaluation Force, Norfolk, VA serving as the Director of Air Division. Chris Fedyschyn retired from active duty on 1 February, 2010.
