I had oversight of a large portfolio of IT change projects. Responsibilities included implementation and measurement of the project delivery standards, assessing the quality of delivery across the life-cycle and developing continuous improvement plans to drive quality up. Monitoring performance of project delivery, collation of MI and reporting to senior management. This included managing the IT change budget, tracking progress against spending plans, ensure deviation from plans were dealt with and recommending actions to address under or overspends. Responsible for supplier management of the key IT change delivery suppliers. I was responsible for monitoring their performance, recommending action to address shortcomings, collaborating with them on development of joint action plans as part of continuous improvement.Key skills: Stakeholder management, communicating effectively, seeing the bigger picture, collaborating and partnering, innovation, analysing information and making effective decisions. Responsible for supporting the development of the Home Office's strategy for creation of electronic services. I built an extensive network of contacts across the Home Office supporting business areas in the development of plans to move from paper based services to online methods. My role was to champion electronic service development, communicating the value of transition to multiple, online and offline channels. I worked with business units to explore options and identify the optimum approach for their lines of business. Working with the Cabinet Office to implement government strategy for electronic services. Networking with business areas across the Home Office to ensure services were accessible to customers whatever channel they opted to use. I was responsible for collating data about individual business area progress presenting a consolidated view for the whole department. Reporting on plans, milestones and achievements to senior managers within Home Office and Cabinet Office. Responsible for briefing the Home Office E-Minister on all aspects of electronic service development. Collating information from business units into reports for the minister's office. Providing personal briefing ahead of parliamentary discussions on electronic service development.Key skills: collating large volumes of information, analysis of information and distillation into reports. Seeing the bigger picture, effective decision making, effective communication. Government Spending Review planning - collating future spending plans from across the department, supporting the prioritisation of spend. Informing Directors & Board members in support of the decision making processes. Bid Management - managing the Prison Service bids for special funds operated by HM Treasury. Identifying suitable projects, developing business cases, monitoring spend against allocated funds. Monitoring & Reporting - monitoring fluctuations in spend, analysing and reporting expected impact on future spending plans. Briefing Ministers and Senior Staff – collating ministerial submissions in preparation for speeches and debates in parliament as well as responding to parliamentary and Freedom of Information questions. I was responsible for drafting official statements, gathering contributions from around the department as necessary, analysis of contributions and extracting the relevant level of information to brief senior officials. The key focus was on demonstrating effective judgement on the level of detail to include for the relevant audience whether a minister or a member of the public. There was a strong emphasis on quality and accuracy as briefings and ministerial responses would become part of the public record.Key skills - Stakeholder Management, Negotiation, Decision Making, Financial Management, Office & Facilities Management, Team and Individual Management Tax Collection - working at Westminster and Colindale Collection offices I was responsible for all aspects of tax collection over a period of 9 years. Responsibilities included home & business visits to recover overdue tax, legal action to recover debts including taking Magistrates and County Court actions against debtors, removal and sale of goods to cover tax debts. Tax Inspection From 1995-1998 - working as a Compliance Officer I was responsible for the identification of individuals or businesses who had failed to declare their operations to the Inland Revenue in order to avoid paying tax. Through special projects targeting particular business types, networking with other local and central government agencies and mining information available publicly I successfully reached my annual targets each year for identifying a set number of "ghosts" or "moonlighters". Responsibilities also included office management, manning the public counter and financial accounting. Whilst working for the Inland Revenue I competed at local level in a variety of sports becoming London Regional champion in cricket and athletics championships. I represented the London Region at national level in football and athletics. From 1989 through to leaving the department I sat on the Regional Sports Committee organising regional events in a variety of sports as well as representative teams competing in national events such as the national football championships, annual athletic championships and national multi-sports events. I went on to be the Secretary to the Committee taking a leading role in setting the direction for sports and social event planning and management.General administration of tax collection. Key duties included writing to debtors, telephoning them and making personal visits to homes and business to secure payment of outstanding tax debts.
