Over the last 12 years I have been in management positions in three Councils: • Business and Innovation Director, City of Prospect. • Economic Development Coordinator, City of Charles Sturt • Manager Economic Development and Land Use Strategy, City of Playford. At Prospect I Iead a small team focused on developing creative solutions for local business including: • Prospect Fast WiFi • Digital Marketing Campaigns • Network Prospect – small business engagement • GigCity Adelaide roll out • Inclusion in Top 21 Intelligent Communities in the world 3 times • Establishment of the Prospect Business Leader group • Regular engagement with key property owners and developers with Mayor • Managing leasing of tenancies in Payinthi • Provide 6 monthly reports on commercial and apartment development. The aim of business engagement is to develop a thriving business environment to foster an innovative business network. Economic Development Australia I have been on the Management Committee the SA Chapter of Economic Development Australia for 12 years. Career Transitions I worked at the LGA in the late 1980’s running the Local Government Community Housing Program. I moved to Newcastle in 1993 and was Coordinator of the Better Cities program. In Newcastle I had a budget of 25 million for housing and urban renewal projects. In 1996 I moved back to South Australia to take up the role as West End Coordinator for Adelaide City Council and transitioned into economic development. Career Highlights • Developing affordable housing projects in Adelaide, Regional SA and in Newcastle • Provision of a funding model and projects in Newcastle to create the largest Community Housing organisation in NSW – Compass Housing 1996 • National award for Planning Excellence for the West End Urban Development Strategy 2001. • National, Economic Development Practitioner of the year award 2012 • MainStreet SA award for Outstanding Partnership 2014 • Business Mission to China with Charles Sturt and the creation of the Australia China Aged Care Consortium 2014 • Prospect Road Mainstreet Awards 2018 and 2019 • Making Prospect a part of the international GigCity Network 2019 • Creating a French Quarter in Prospect - plan 2020.
