Chris Pinto’s Expertise Chris Pinto J. (D.V.M, MSc. in One Health, PhD) is a veterinarian with 15 years of experience in microbiological and molecular diagnosis of animal diseases including detection of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Her research has focused on animal bacterial infections, AMR, and zoonoses such as Salmonellosis and Leptospirosis. She has worked closely with farmers and communities in the Peruvian highlands, identifying determinants of infection in animals and humans. She has participated in AMR projects that accounted for the social and environmental determinants of infections, and investigated how AMR awareness might influence antimicrobial use. Currently, Chris is a Research Fellow at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) conducting research on AMR in animal agricultural settings applying a One Health approach. She is also the head of the Veterinary and Clinical Sciences Pillar of the LSHTM-AMR Centre, and the Educational lead of LSHTM Fleming Fund Fellows.
