  I recently earned a PhD from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Biology & Biotechnology. My dissertation focused on elucidating mechanisms underlying chemical communication and multisensory integration to provide insights on neural coding strategies that drive social behavioral responses. This work led to a plethora of skills, ranging from working as a team, to disseminating findings, to technical research skills. Much of my training focused on investigating the role of various proteins and their sites of action in the nervous system of the model organism C. elegans. This involved, but was not limited to: construct design, transgenics, behavioral assays, microscopy, microfluidics, and data analysis. In addition to the technical skills, I was able to take advantage of professional development opportunities at WPI, including a certificate in leadership and in college teaching. Furthermore, public dissemination of my work and networking led to fruitful collaborations that resulted in publications and further developed team working skills. I particularly enjoyed learning and mentoring others throughout my tenure at WPI, thus I am interested in a career that offers both life long learning for my own personal growth and professional development as well as the opportunity to assist others on their journey.
