Damien Colas’s Expertise Neuroscience provides a set of tools for improving the quality of life. Currently seeking to translate basic science knowledge using high-tech and data science in relation to pharmacology and sensors especially in the area of cognition, mindfulness, activity, nutrition, sleep, sleep apnea, luminotherapy. My research led to the discovery of new molecular and light dependent pathways important for sleep regulation and new targets for sleep disorders. Also contributed to deciphering the intricate relationship between sleep and cognition, in particular in neurodegenerative diseases, Alzheimer, Down syndrome, autism, aging with clinical applications that are currently developed. Using a integrated physiological approach allowed me to propose new applications for off patent drugs. 30+ research articles, patents and book chapters Technical and conceptual expertise in physiology, Neurosciences and neuropsychopharmacology with emphasis on sleep/circadian neurobiology. Biology of aging and associated disorders. Cognitive consequences of sleep and circadian disruptions : remediation strategies Disease models, Alzheimer, autism, down syndrome Genetic determinants of sleep homeostasis and circadian rhythms. EEG spectral analysis / Brain activity Statistical modelizations, machine learning, biomarkers Neuropsychopharmacology tools / Optogenetics GLPs, GCPs, IACUC trainings Specialties: Neurosciences Sleep Pharmacology/physiology/genetics Sleep medicine Luminotherapy Animal models phenotyping, EEG, behavior Nitric oxide, oxidative stress and aging Energy and metabolism Reviewer/Editor for scientific journals and funding agencies Project and team management, writing skills
