David Allen’s Expertise My entire work history can be summed up by two words: Customer Focus. I developed my soft skills working in retail spaces like bookstores and for Apple Retail. The customer was the primary focus of all our operations. Learning to listen to their needs, aligning with their concerns, and finding the solution perfect for them, wether it be the perfect book or the right computer for that college student. In those same spaces I was able to manage my first teams. That taught me the importance of the internal customer. Workers who are heard and given the chance to shine, who feel seen when you encourage a spark of interest, are happier, more productive, loyal, and provide their best labor. I kept these basic understandings in mind for the rest of my career. As I transitioned to a Support team for a company barely larger than a startup. Worked hard and learned to understand that role to the point of working on process and documentation in my down time. This led to a promotion where I was asked to manage that Support Team. As Manager, I had to be agile and come up with new solutions during a pandemic. This led to major changes for the team. Changing our ticketing system, expanding our hours to 24/7 coverage, working remotely. Doing all of this, with the help of my team, we were able to only complete those goals, but become more efficient while doing so. In the time since, I have been an Application Engineer and a Product Owner. After a recent layoff, I have set my sights on new opportunities where I can continue my exploration of Customer Focus. I'll continue to look for chances help each of my customers, external and internal, find that which they are looking for.
