This includes faculty, staff, and administrators who should: learn equity skills such as listening to understand and talking about cultural identities, redesign our introductory "gateway" courses and STEM curriculum, evaluate and reward effective and inclusive teaching and mentoring, and ensure that our definition of scientific excellence is centered on equity. I am a member of the National Academies committee that wrote the 2023 report Advancing Antiracism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in STEMM.
