As a classically-trained violinist and chamber musician, I am a member of Tensegrity, an internationally prize-winning string quartet made up of myself and three of my four siblings, and have received recognition at the local, regional, and national levels as a solo violinist. As a member of Tensegrity, I am often contracted to play for weddings, galas, and various other events and have raised over 15,000 for charitable causes. My teachers have included Tim Barrett of the Academy of Strings, Miroslav Hristov of the University of Tennessee (Knoxville), and David Kováč of East Tennessee State University. In September of 2019, I was elected to serve as student President of the Highlands Youth Ensemble, a high school honors choir of the Mountain Empire Children’s Choral Academy. Outside of my academic and musical pursuits, I enjoy studying Christian theology, hiking, reading Greek with my two brothers, fitness, and just hanging out with my friends. I always relish a good debate, such as a formal, moderated debate for one of my classes over some pressing social or theological issue. An avid birder, nature photographer, and native plant enthusiast, I enjoy participating in several citizen science projects including eBird, the Mendota Fire Tower HawkWatch, and eButterfly. Throughout the year, I am active in fighting for state legislation relating to human rights, and most recently gave a speech before my local city council urging them to take action on a pressing social need within the city.
