  As a young high schooler I wanted to pursue theater as a career. I wanted to perform, but the practicality of that career got in the way of diving deep into that profession. I am too systematic and analytical to be a full time actress. I strive for structure, organization, and a plan, so I gravitated towards teaching. I fell in love with teaching young kids, then I began teaching middle school, then I directed high schooler, then finally college age. I enjoyed all of them. The drive and exhilaration I feel when teaching a group of students is unmeasurable. I get excited and nervous about teaching a new group of students because they are all so different. The year after college, I worked with a small charter school. At this school I had the amazing opportunity to write, create, and implement my own curriculum. The schools existing Physical Education program was failing. As an avid mover and performer, I used my skills to rise this program out of the ashes. I took grade level standards for P.E and married them with grade level standards for drama and created a beautiful mesh of Creative Movement. For the youngest grades, I focussed on fine and gross motor skills. In the older grades, I taught teamwork, collaboration, social emotional skills, and free form skill training. In 2020, I dusted off my customer service skills at Whole Foods Market, but I did not leave my ability to teach behind. As a team member at WFM, I trained team members, communicated with and helped customers, and I memorized the layout of the store. I believe this is all thanks to theatre. My ability to memorize scripts, start and stick with a routine, and have an organized mindset have led me to success within life, classrooms, and interpersonal communications. In the Fall of 2021, I started working at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Westfield as their Education Director and Drama Coordinator. I have gained many skills while in these positions. I am more confident when sharing ideas, directing a group of actors, and communicating with management. I have learned how to build and grow a theater program from the ground up, and how to engage a group of members in an education activity during the after-school hours. The latter being quite a feat.
