Diego Berti’s Expertise I was born and I grew up near Florence (Italy), where I completed my academic education. From November 2015 to October 2018 I was a PhD student at the University of Florence. I defended my thesis and held my PhD in Mathematics on 18 February 2019. Currently (from Juanary 2020) I am a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Dipartimento di Scienze e Metodi dell'Ingegneria at the Univerity of Modena and Reggio Emilia, in Italy. I have been selected for a grant under the project named "Macroscopic models for the analysis of pedestrian dynamics in crowded environments". In the context of degenerate parabolic equations, the so-called traveling wave solutions play a peculiar role. The goal of this project is to investigate the existence and regularity of such solutions. From April 2019 to December 2019, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Instituto de Ciencias Matematicas (ICMAT), under the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC), in Madrid, Spain. In particular, I was selected within the "Programa de Excelencia Severo Ochoa", funded by the Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad. This project was focusing on the study of isothermic surfaces of parabolic equations and the analysis of critical points of solutions of elliptic equations. I specialize in the study of geometric properties of solutions to Partial Differential Equations (PDEs). In this context, it is interesting to study how the geometrical properties of a domain affect the solutions to differential problems. My research embraces classical, variational and viscosity solutions to PDEs. I am interested in symmetry results as well as symmetry breaking phenomena. In my PhD thesis, I studied certain elliptic and parabolic equations for a nonlinear operator with (possible) singular coefficients. This operator is called Game-Theoretic p-Laplacian. It has been introduced in recent years in the context of Game Theory but, nevertheless, it has been recently highlighted its role in some applications as digital enhancing of damaged images as well as in financial contexts. One of the main contributions of my work has been to provide new asymptotic formulas for solutions and for some statistical quantities called q-means on internal tangent balls. Also, I showed accurate and sharp asymptotic estimates (new also in the well-studied linear case).
