  Ever since I chose to start my journey in technology, it’s been a dream. You get to solve so many practical but important problems that people face each and every day. Software engineering is a never-ending puzzle that I am passionately engaged in solving. I believe it has the power to improve the lives of people all around the world from wherever you are, which is absolutely amazing. My first position after undergrad was within the Technology Early Career Development Program (TECDP) at Cigna. It's a 3-year program where you have the option to switch roles each year if you feel like you want to try something new. I loved that idea because I wasn't sure what technologies I wanted to work with. My final rotation was working on an API that aggregates data from various data sources in and out of Cigna. A large portion of our data is collected in Amazon Redshift and Teradata. We use GraphQL on the API layer to query data. I ended up liking the more technical nature of the work and the team so stayed in that position after the program. It’s incredible to see how many technologies are out there but, also the impact they have because this all leads to making a better and affordable experience for the customers and patients we serve. Because I wanted to continue to facilitate my learning, I decided to pursue a Masters In Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology part-time. It was a challenging but rewarding experience! In the forever changing landscape of technology, you never stop learning, which I believe is one of the best parts of working in this industry.
