Doug Kirshen’s Expertise Doug Kirshen is an writer, teacher and administrator with experience in higher education and non-profit arts management. He holds a Ph.D. in Victorian Literature and Theatre from Brandeis University and is currently a Lecturer in the University Writing Program at Brandeis University. Previously, Doug was a professional arts administrator working in marketing, PR and fundraising at the American Repertory Theatre and Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. As the ART he served as Director of Audience Development and Web Manager, creating the theatre's first website and online ticket services. At the Gardner, Doug was a problem solver and grant writer during a period of crisis and institutional reform. His successes included the Museum’s first 1,000,000 grant, an award for phase 1 climate control renovations from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
