Duncan Stewart’s Expertise I live in Saratoga, a beautiful suburb of the central coast, with my wife and son. On the weekends, I play in a very social over 35's soccer team and have just started kayak fishing. I have a passion for software engineering, product development, and business and enjoy learning and gaining experience with all of these things. I have a slight obsession with reading books on these topics, usually in audio form, while i'm doing family chores around the house. Some of my more recent learnings have come from — Thoughts on Functional Programming Podcast by Eric Normand, Good Strategy Bad Strategy: The Difference and Why It Matters, and Working Backwards: Insights, Stories, and Secrets from Inside Amazon. I have also read a lot of the classics on software engineering in my 20 year career. Too many to mention. I have founded two of my own businesses, Open Shed and Link Crier, and this has given me a good appreciation of just how hard it can be! Through these experiences (and failures), I have developed a broader perspective on what it takes to build a successful business. I am an engineer at heart, and really enjoy writing code and solving problems. But am also excited about what Data Engineering can do as a team and the whole journey of building Propeller to solve really interesting problems in essential industries.
