I'm a Systems Engineer working at L3Harris in SLC UT. I started working at L3Harris 2009 in a co-op position, then hired on full time as a Mechanical Design Engineer in 2011. I've been responsible for developing new hardware designs as well as improving upon previous designs. Design has included thermal analysis, structural analysis, environmental testing, tolerance stack-ups, as well as working with 3-D CAD software. I moved on to work in the Sustainment Engineering Group on a FRACAS team (Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System). FRACAS helps create processes to allow efficient tracking, failure analysis, and implementation of corrective actions to failures found during product development, testing, and operation/field use of hardware. Such aspects as reliability, MTBF, failure reporting, destructive analysis/testing, and database tracking are all part of the FRACAS streamlined process. I was the team lead for two major programs that supported FRACAS efforts, and had a team of Engineers that I was responsible for. After my FRACAS role I moved on to our Systems Engineering group. I have had to opportunity to interface with many other departments and Engineering groups within L3Harris. I have been responsible for communicating with customers as well as some of our vendors.
