Graham Philip’s Expertise Archaeology of the Ancient Near East, in particular regional survey / landscape archaeology and remote sensing applications. Further interests include studying the dynamics of small-scale complex societies and material culture / artefact studies. The last two are currently being explored through fieldwork at Tell Koubba in Lebanon, in collaboration with Prof Helen Sader of the American University of Beirut, and laboratory research on Bronze Age ceramics from Jordan, Syria & Lebanon, conducted with my Durham colleague Dr Kamal Badreshany. I am currently a co-investigator on several major collaborative research and heritage protection projects including 'Persia and Its Neighbours' (European Research Council), Endangered Archaeology in the Middle East and North Africa (Arcadia Fund and British Council Cultural Protection Fund), and Computational Research on the Ancient Near East (CRANE) (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada).
