He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of Portland, OR and then spent 11 years as a Shipboard Electromagnetic Compatibility Engineer for the U.S. Navy specializing in Satellite Communications and whole ship EMC certification. Along the way an M.S. in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA was earned along with his sea legs! Joining Intel Corporation in 2017 shifted his EMC concentration from ships to chips specifically focusing on: ESD Controls and Process Assessments, Risk Assessment of intentional radiators, and Electric and Magnetic Field emissions. He is a certified ESD Program Manager and participant in ESDA process assessment and flooring working groups, member of IEEE EMC society with research papers as well as presentations to the local EMC chapter, and a member of the SEMI EMC task force. Enabling visualization of electromagnetic phenomenon through instrumentation and enhanced analysis has been his guiding principle since joining Intel and has developed a passion to increase data analysis skills and share creative problem solving techniques with others. Legacy NAVY Bio: Mr. Larson is an experienced Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) test engineer with extensive background and knowledge of U.S. Navy systems and platforms gained while employed at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). He has provided in-depth test and analytical experience with Communications, Radar, and Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems. He is proficient in the use of the real-time spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, signal generator, oscilloscope, and Digital Multimeter (DMM). In addition, Mr. Larson possesses a Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Systems Planning, Research, Development and Engineering (SPRDE) Level 3 Certification. He has proven electrical engineering and technical skills in performance-based positions for a variety of government programs in electrical engineering-related fields with an intuitive understanding of electromagnetic phenomena.
